NUCLIS ECO-WOR Project – Eco-design for water and oil repellents

Thursday April 5th, 2018

The NUCLIS ECO-WOR Project, developed by Color Center and co-financed by the Government of Catalonia (ACCIÓ, Nuclis R + D Empresarial), has been published as a success story by the WATIFY initiative of the European Commission.

WATIFY is an awareness-raising campaign that stimulates the modernization of European industry. The campaign focuses on the technological transformation of traditional SMEs, promotion of regional digitization and uptake of advanced technologies – notably Key Enabling Technologies. WATIFY seeks to boost the rate of European industrial modernization through increased productivity and efficiency, resulting in improved competitiveness and job creation.

NEW ECO-DESIGNED POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS FOR THE TEXTILE SECTOR (ECO-PUD)

Thursday March 1st, 2018

02/2017, CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) has approved the project “NEW ECO-DESIGNED POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS FOR THE TEXTILE SECTOR (ECO-PUD)“. This project is led by Color Center, S.A. in collaboration with Leitat Technological Center and consists of the development of a new range of waterborne polymer dispersions for application in the field of advanced textile coatings. This research work focuses on the ECO-Design of high-performance polymers based on Bio-Building-Blocks, free of heavy metals and cosolvents harmful to health and the environment.

Project RESET

Friday March 17th, 2017

Color Center participates in the 3rd Meeting of Stakeholders within the framework of the RESET Project, held at the Alcoi headquarters of AITEX, one of the partners of the project led by the City of Prato (Italy).

In this third meeting, a series of good practices were presented around Theme 3 of the RESET project: Sustainable Chemistry and chemicals reduction.

RESET (RESearch centers of Excellence in the Textile sector) is an Interreg Europe project whose main objective is to improve regional policies and promote a more sustainable approach to production in the Textile and Garment sector. This includes the creation, management and improvement of Research & Development and Innovation infrastructures necessary for the development of more ecological and sustainable textile products and processes. EEA-GRANTS 2014-2015

Wednesday January 27th, 2016

On December 31, 2015 Color Center concluded the technical developments in the frame of ECO-DESIGNED FLAME RETARDANTS FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY(ECO-FR) project. This project has enabled the creation of a range of ECO-designed flame retardants (halogen-free, formaldehyde-free and antimony-free) with an improved toxicological profile in comparison with the existing traditional solutions in the market. This research project has been approved and financed by the European Economic Area Agreement (EEA: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) in cooperation with CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) as operator in Spain. ECO-FR project took off last July 2014 , currently some of the developments are under industrial scale and sales promotion (link to leaflet ECO-FR). Extensive applied research carried out under this EEA-Grants project together with the large number of (nano)materials tested allow us to offer customized  fireproofing solutions, technically feasible and environmentally friendly.

PROJECT ECO-FR

Friday July 25th, 2014

As part of Color Center, S.A.’s commitment to the environment, the company is involved in the design of new flame retardants for textile finishing with an improved ECO-Toxicological profile. The main milestones of the ECO-FR project consist on providing ECO-Designed flame retardants (bromine-free, formaldehyde-free, and antimony-free). This research project has been approved and financed by the European Economic Area Agreement (EEA: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) in cooperation with CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) as operator in Spain. ECO-FR project took off last July 2014 with a kick-off meeting in Madrid.

PROJECT ECO-WOR

Sunday October 12th, 2014

Color Center, S.A. in collaboration with Leitat Technological Center is currently developing a new range of ECO-Designed water and oil repellents (WOR) for the textile finishing based on new (nano)materials. The new product range will fulfil the current directives and the most demanding standards existing today by offering WOR finishings PFCAs-free (perfluorocarboxylic acids) and FTOHs-free (fluorotelomer alcohols) in line with the demands of leading environmental organizations, some governments as well as major retailers. The research work is being conducted under the project ECO-WOR. This project has been granted by NUCLIS d’INNOVACIÓ TECNOLÒGICA, a credit line designed by Generalitat de Catalunya (the catalan regional government) and managed by ACCIÓ.
